The population has grown to about 24,295, 2006 with the highest population age range between 35 and 49. Elmwood officially became a town in 1914. With 1.9 sq. miles it is about twenty-five minutes/15 miles from Chicago. Shopping and lovely owner/operator restaruants are scattered throughout Conti Parkway, also known to homeowners as the circle as it encompasses a wide circle and also is home to a the local library the citizens are very proud of. The town is known as the Village with Pride as residents strive to keep the town in shape.

Recreation in Elmwood Park
Kids are always looking for summer fun, and with the
Family Aquatic Center they found it! The center has something for everyone in the family. From the zero depth edge pool and the children's water play area.

They also have a space reserved just for tanners! And the mushroom shower and water slide are a huge splash.

Seniors have a special place of their own in Elmwood Park. The Frambois Center is strictly for seniors and the have designed many different programs. The center sponsors aquatic classes, golf and exercise. They also have a helpful program for snow removal! You are welcome to call 708.452.3962 for more information about current events. Also for older seniors, the Elmwood Care center located on Grand Street is licensed by the state of Illinois and certified for Medicare. They have 245 beds and recently added on in-house dialysis and Ventilator Dependant care.

Village of Elmwood Park Rec Center is located at 2 Conti Parkway and offers many adult and children's programs throughout the year. For adults they have weight training, men's basketball, Kick boxing, yoga and many strength training and step aerobics. For Children something new for 2008 is a Cheerleading Class for ages 8 and up and a Magic Class was just held in February, 2008 with great success!  Other children's classes include, tumbling, karate, painting, ceramics and for the sports minded; football, basketball, baseball, golf and fitness class. Keeping the little ones busy early in childhood sets them up for staying active as an adult.
