Having lived here my entire adult life, I know one thing for certain and that is simply put, Oak Park has so much to offer. Oak Park is the first suburb located just west of Chicago. Oak Park has a very deep and rich history which includes being the birthplace of Prairie School architecture and it is the home of the world's largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright homes.
Oak Park is known as a diverse, exciting, and very desirable place to live. Rich in culture and architecture, there are many art galleries, studios, and antique shops. Oak Park is also the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway
There are more than 100 great restaurants in the area representing all areas of the world. Ask me about my favorites!
Oak Park has excellent transportation serviced by 3 train lines, a highway system, and bus routes which enables you to be in downtown Chicago within 17-25 minutes! Both airports are about 20 minutes away as is the Oak Brook shopping center to our west. You simply cannot beat Oak Park's location!

Touring Oak Park - a great online guide through Oak Park. They have a Blading Tour which is roller blading through the great homes that have been built here by some pretty famous people, namely Frank Lloyd Wright. Each page will bring you to a different historical home. With brillant explanations of the designs. The site also offers other mini tours of the Conservatory and Hemingway's birthplace. This thoughful community has also put together the heart and soul of Oak Park. And that is the Organizations and volunteer groups throughout the area. They have it listed alphabetically or in catagory order. Understand there are many groups and something for everyone. From youth activities to performing arts, and from health and education to church and architecture. But the most well known character of Oak Park is it's lively Art Community with Arts in CyberPark. For twenty five years the art community has been highlighted and encouraged in Oak Park and River Forest. The have gathered the artisans, and musical talents, the ballet and art galleries all in one place. So if your curious on a Sunday afternoon, take a look at all that Oak Park and River Forest have to offer.

There are numerous Events happening all over town. Stroll over to FitzGeralds Night Club any night of the week and something is happening. Even the beautiful Oak Park Library has exhibits and authors spending time here.
The Historical Society of Oak Park never let us forget Our History. The society has painstackingly gathered up the past with pictures and stories to delight and educate us. From our tender beginnings back in 1835 when Joeseph and Betty Kettlestrings built their home near the corner of Lake and Harlem to the first African American to live in Oak Park, Mr. Percy Lavon Julian, the historical society will remain the keepers of the past.

| Downtown Oak Park even has its own oldtime art deco movie theater. The Lake Theater has been restored with six screens playing all current releases. If stadium seating theater is your preference there is a CineMark Theater just 3 miles away. |
