River Forest is located just west of Oak Park and like Oak Park it is situated just west of Chicago. Conveniently located between both airports River Forest is serviced by 3 train lines, bus routes, and a highway system (I-290). Downtown Chicago is only 20-25 minutes away as is Oak Brook Center to our west. River Forest is a proud community of finer homes and rich architecture. "Proud Heritage and a Bright Future" is the city slogan. The people are caring and loving neighbors. The River Forest Community Center has a wonderful program for young people and there is an excellent school system comprised of both public and private schools. Our public grade school test scores often rank #1 in the state. Amazing! Our public high school is shared with Oak Park and is called "Oak Park River Forest High School". River Forest is bordered to the west by three miles of beautiful Forest Preserves. There is a great park system and a thriving centrally located shopping district. It will take only one visit to River Forest for you to fall in love with all this village has to offer. There is a wide selection of fine homes, most on larger lots and all located on mature tree lined streets. They also have wonderful Parks and Recreation for the whole family.
