Welcome to Melrose Park Illinois , it appears Melrose Park was more a place to pass through rather then set up house. We have no proof that even Indians lived here. They passed thru, so did the bison, deer and antelope of long ago.
In 1871 Mr. Eaton partnered with a developer from Chicago to create the Melrose Realty Company. The partners bought 342 acres and so Melrose Park was born. The layed back village eventually merged with smaller towns such as Ovington and Proviso bringing the total land mass to 4.2 square miles.

There are plenty of towns named "Melrose" in our great nation but only one "Melrose Park". Melrose Park has many families that have been here for generations some as long as six!
The village offers transportation rails with daily service to Chicago. Melrose also has two hospitals; Westlake Hospital and Gotlieb Memorial Hospital, both are within the city limits.

Melrose celebrated their Centennial in 1982 and Carol Lawrence, born here, was sure to be on hand. Schools for Melrose Park are in District 89. There are 5 elementary schools, 1 junior high and 2 high schools. They are as follows:

Triton College has programs for adults and senior studies continuing education. Melrose Park also has Proviso Day Care Center at 708.681.3695 and Family Services 708.681.3642

Melrose Park has a great library with a terrific and a friendly web presence. You can tell they care about there community with cultural crafts programs, resumes and improved interviews workshops among other varied resources for children, adults, seniors and the unemployed.
